Q&A With Tim Maldonado, Director of Support

Our RTA Support team has a 5-star rating! We recently sat down with their leader, Tim Maldonado, to learn more about him and his team. From his past work experiences to his hobbies, learn more about Tim.

What is your role at RTA?

I am the Director of Support. I make sure our customers are taken care of, that they’re being helped in a timely manner, and that our team is maintaining our 5-star service.

What were some of the roles you held before joining RTA?

I worked in IT. I worked with Animal Hospitals in their IT department. Lol, there I got to experience a lot of hair in their computers.

I also worked at an engineering firm. There I learned how to set up a network and set up computers.

I also had a job where I worked in early childhood in IT. I traveled between three states installing computers in pre-schools. We had a set of 10 programs on each machine and I had to teach the teachers how to use them. It wasn’t just IT – it was setting up the classroom. I built desks and did the layout of the classroom.

What do you enjoy most about your job at RTA?

I love working with my team. It’s a great team. I love being able to teach them better ways to help our customers.

How do you help fleets succeed?

My team helps fleets succeed by giving them 5-star services. I help them specifically by doing as much as I can to make sure the customer is taken care of, even if it means going out to their site to get them set up or provide assistance. I help them understand the importance of tracking their assets, making sure they’re keeping in compliance with PMs, and running reports. I also talk to them about their employees and their culture and make sure their employees are taken care of.

What hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?

I like to ride horses. I am learning how to rope cattle and herd them. I also like to tinker in the garage and fix motors, Jeeps, go-carts, and motorcycles. Something I really enjoy is making sure I can rebuild something and make it work. It’s always been that way with computers, but I’ve gotten into engines.

Where is the best place you’ve vacationed at?

I really enjoyed Telluride, Colo. I did some 4-wheeling there.

If you won the lottery, what would you buy first?

I’d buy a farm.

Do you prefer cats or dogs?

Cats.

What’s your favorite cereal?

Cap’n Crunch.

What’s your favorite non-work book?

Harry Potter.

What’s your favorite leadership book?

Extreme Ownership.

What’s your favorite sports team?

The Diamondbacks.
